The present study was carried out to characterize 32 oat genotypes on the basis of morphological and qualitative traits in the research field of ATTC Fushë Krujë, during the year 2014-15. The data show that there is variation for almost all the traits. Regarding growth habit, majority of the genotypes were found to possess erect nature (81.25%) followed by semi-prostrate (12.5%) and 6.25 % of the genotypes possessed prostrate nature of growth habit. It is important to select suitable genotypes with convenient erect trait. Lodging at vegetative stage was almost the same as at mature stage but this trait was highly variable and five categories were established conforming the differences among the genotypes. Among the genotypes upright at maturity stage was predominant (46.86%) followed by minor lodging, lodged and extremely lodged (15.63%), each of them and finally intermediate (6.25%).  All the genotypes were found to possess glabrous nature for hairiness of leaf sheath, and the most of them equilateral nature of panicle (96.88%). Most of the genotypes had white-brown (34.37%), followed by yellow 25%, brown 21.88% and 8.75% had yellow-brown color lemma. This descriptor is important, helping to select agronomical superior genotypes visually, and genotypes with erect plant growth habit, glabrous leaf sheath, erect nature of panicles and spikelet with waxiness, for abiotic stress tolerance.
